about North Norfolk
Theatre Wardobe
North Norfolk Theatre Wardrobe started its life like many of the garments in its store, a long time ago!
Originally part of the Sheringham Little Theatre until 2005, when then it was taken on by Sheringham Plus as part of the Sheringham rejuvenation project.
In 2008 it became ‘The Theatre and Community Wardrobe.’ Founded by Mike Crowe and Alex Chapman, where alongside a seamstress costumes were made to order as well as being hired out to the public. By 2010 the Wardrobe had returned to being a just a hire service only and was now being run as a social enterprise with a team of directors and willing volunteers.
Since 2008- 2023 this wardrobe has ran as a non-for-profit business, keeping it links with the Sheringham Little Theatre and creating new strong bonds with other local amateur groups. It has been kept lovingly preserved by Libby Henshaw, Nona Gray, Jenni Randall and Steve Tuck, who have not only kept it running and open to the public but also maintained and preserved the costumes, designing many shows which, have graced the stages of theatres and village halls around Norfolk.
In 2022, Jacqueline came on board as a volunteer and now this magical place is about to take on its next transformation. Keeping our relaxed and friendly ethos, we are re-branding with a new name - North Norfolk Theatre Wardrobe. It is now our hope and goal to gain a wider audience and spread the word of Norfolk’s Best Kept Secret.
We are open by appointment only.
